When planning to implement a publishing platform for first open access publications at your institution, you are faced with a major task and many questions. The following pages provide an overview of the requirements your platform should meet to ensure that scientists or funding institutions perceive it as reliable, secure and of high quality. Searching for the right technical solution can prove to be time-consuming and confusing. Therefore, this manual gives an overview of different systems, each with an example of application.
