    "abstract" : "Sowohl inkohärente sichtbare (VIS: visible) als auch infrarote (IR-) Strahlung können an Arbeitsplätzen und in der Freizeit auf vielfältige Weise auf den Menschen einwirken. Diese Strahlenarten gehören zur vorhandenen Umgebung (Umwelt) des Menschen und werden durch natürliche (Sonne) und künstliche optische Strahlungsquellen emittiert. Durch Infrarotstrahlung und sichtbare Strahlung ist der Mensch ständig exponiert. Höhe, Dauer und Art der Exposition entscheiden darüber, ob durch die Einwirkung positive (zum Teil lebensnotwendige) Effekte hervorgerufen oder Schädigungen verursacht werden. Die Lage der Schädigungsschwellen und die Umstände, die zu Schädigungen führen können, sind daher von besonderem Interesse. Ebenso wichtig ist auch die Kenntnis der Wellenlängen, bei denen unterschiedliche biologische Wirkungen auftreten können. Die Laserstrahlung und die Sonnenstrahlung werden in diesem Leitfaden nicht behandelt; hierzu gibt es jeweils einen speziellen Leitfaden. Für den Wellenlängenbereich bis 400 nm ist zusätzlich der Leitfaden \"Inkohärente ultraviolette Strahlung von künstlichen Quellen\" anzuwenden; der Wellenlängenbereich von 380 nm bis 400 nm ist sowohl der UV-Strahlung als auch der sichtbaren Strahlung zugeordnet.",
