    "abstract" : "Der Beitrag „Bildkontakte. Über die haptische Erfahrbarkeit virtueller Räume“ untersucht die verkörperte Wahrnehmung von 3D-Bildern durch Tasten, Greifen und Berühren. Er nimmt die Prominenz des Haptisch-Materiellen in gegenwärtigen Virtual-Reality-Experimenten zum Ausgangspunkt, um über Versprechungen und Enttäuschungen sensorischer Feedbacksysteme nachzudenken. Während die Sicht auf den physisch zu ertastenden Raum durch das Head-Mounted-Display absorbiert wird, gewinnt die haptisch-taktile Erfahrung von realen Materialien in aktuellen VR-Entwicklungen der Spiele- und Unterhaltungsindustrie zunehmend an Bedeutung. Sie zielen darauf ab, die visuelle Wahrnehmung digitaler 3D-Welten durch zueinander passende und einander ergänzende Tasteindrücke zu verstärken, um den Wirklichkeitswert ihrer Erfahrung zu steigern. Der Wunsch, an einer technischen, primär visuell wahrgenommenen Welt mit dem Tastsinn teilzuhaben, ist nicht so neu wie die haptischen Peripheriegeräte der VR-Systeme, die seine Erfüllung verheißen. Beispielhaft werden die Material- und Strukturforschungen am Bauhaus der 1920er Jahre den Tastexperimenten in Virtual-Reality-Laboren gegenübergestellt und deren grundsätzlich unterschiedliche Sinnespolitiken analysiert. Vor der Gedankenfolie materialpsychologischer und raumphänomenologischer Ansätze des 19. und frühen 20. Jahrhunderts werden die Möglichkeiten einer alternativen Gestaltung virtueller Realitäten ausgelotet, welche physische Dinge und Stoffe in die 3D-Welt miteinbezieht – nicht, um eine vollständige Illusionierung der Rezipient:innen zu erreichen, sondern um eine komplexe Kommunikation zwischen Körpern und Materialien anzuregen, die zugleich ihre Vermitteltheit offenlegt.",
