Developing Communication Formats for a Positive Energy Transition Focusing on Photovoltaic – A Delphi Design Sprint Approach

The research project MEnergie – My Energy Transition, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, aims to tackle the challenges of the energy transition by incorporating the diverse needs of societal groups. The overarching goal of the project is to develop innovative communication formats leading to a higher support of society with respect to the energy transition. This study explores a novel methodology in order to accelerate the energy transition: Using a transdisciplinary and participatory approach, the research focuses on the development of communication concepts through the integration of the Delphi Design Sprint method within combined transdisciplinary seminars. One future scenario describes the establishment of a training program for photovoltaic technicians in Germany. A concept, leading towards this positive future scenario, was developed by students. It received positive and minimally controversial feedback from expert participants, not only from the photovoltaic sector. As a result, the approach demonstrates how different perspectives and levels of engagement can enhance conceptual development. In addition to contributing to the discourse on effective communication in the energy transition, it highlights the importance of integrating participatory methods and expert feedback. This integration is critical to preparing the next generation of professionals to adeptly address today's effective communication challenges and the evolving energy transition landscape.
