    "description" : "Das Forschungsprojekt KIRA adressiert die Herausforderung, eine nachhaltige und regionale Lebensmittelversorgung in der sogenannten Außer-Haus-Verpflegung (AHV), z. B. in Kantinen, Mensen oder der Gastronomie, zu gewährleisten. Derzeit gibt es in der Region Köln/südliches Rheinland eine Kluft zwischen regionaler landwirtschaftlicher Produktion und der Versorgung von AHV-Einrichtungen, die durch mangelnde logistische Infrastruktur und unzureichende Vernetzung weiter verstärkt wird. KIRA zielt darauf ab, diese Lücke zu schließen, indem im Rahmen des Projektes ein regionales Wertschöpfungsnetzwerk aufgebaut und hierfür geeignete Logistikkonzepte entwickelt und in ersten Piloten umgesetzt werden sollen. <br>Ein weiterer Schwerpunkt liegt auf der Integration (bio-)regionaler Produkte und der Reduktion von Lebensmittelabfällen durch verbesserte Planungs- und Kommunikationsstrukturen. Mit einem Fördervolumen von rund 1,7 Millionen Euro unterstützt das Bundesministerium für Ernährung und Landwirtschaft (BMEL) das Projekt KIRA, um die Transformation des Ernährungssystems in der Modellregion voranzutreiben und skalierbare Modelle für andere Regionen zu entwickeln. Dabei sind die Zertifizierung der AHV-Einrichtungen nach DGE-Standards und die Nutzung digitaler Plattformen zentrale Elemente des Projekts. Ziel ist es, bis 2027 die Versorgungswege insbesondere für (bio-)regionale Produkte in die AHV zu verbessern und auf diese Weise einen nachhaltigen Beitrag zur Ernährungswende zu leisten.",
